THE DECISION:

Opinion

Council set the average rates increase of 7.79 percent for 2021/22. Some of this increase is related to our proposed increased spending, but the Council is also facing higher costs that we have no choice but to pass on. For example, inflation* and depreciation accounts for 6.2 percent (on average) of the proposed rates increase. Only 1.6 percent (on average) of the proposed rates increase are changes to the work programme. The rates increase will vary for different properties across the district.
