Foodbank fund rising

News

Ka¯piti Community Foodbank’s new home fundraising effort continues to grow. The food bank needs to fundraise $150,000 to buy a new home and relocate it to a site in Paraparaumu where it has secured a 10 year lease. So far the building appeal fund is $45,054.72c which includes a generous $10,000 donation from Coastlands Shoppingtown. Foodbank chairman David Edwards said a sign board is now erected by the foodbank entrance, at the Te Newhanga Ka¯piti Community Centre, to show the public how the fundraiser is tracking. “Similar signs will appear in Kapiti Rd, Te Moana Rd, and Raumati Rd.” Edwards said the foodbank was working with architects A&D Architecture Ltd to “design an efficient layout of the new building, including the efficient flow of goods from the storage containers and access by vehicles”. “As a result of the burglary we experienced earlier in the year security is high on our list of wishes as is the safety of our volunteers.” Edwards said the building fund bank account, at the ASB, was 12-3157-0048639-50. “The bank will willingly receive donations from folk who are unable to do so directly.”
